Our #IamOriginal88 winner, Masivane, better known as "@kingflabba_sa" on Instagram, is a 25-year-old male, originally from a small town called Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape but now lives in East London to pursue his studies at the University of FortHare doing Nursing Science.

What are your Aspirations/dreams?

My aspiration was always to have a name in the Media, but the lack of opportunities in the industry makes it quite hard to follow this type of career.

When did you first hear about the competition?

I first heard about this competition in 2021 from an acquaintance who entered it a while back. Still, I'm not sure how far he went with the competition because we were not close then, and even when we became friends, I never asked about it, but when he explained it to me, I became interested.

Give us one fun fact about you.

I entered in 2022, and I was selected in the top 20. I couldn't make it to the top 2, then I entered again this year and made it to the top 2. It's a great experience, especially for someone new to this modelling game like me.

Do you know anyone who has won/entered the #IamOriginals88 Competition?

A friend of mine who had entered the competition, I'm not sure how far he got in the #IamOriginals88 competition.

Being our Top 20, how did you manage to stand out/ garner the votes they did to win?

I managed to win that by asking people on my social media platforms to vote for me and doing research on campus for students to vote for me. I had my friends helping me with that.

Which is the best SM platform to grow your following?

I believe Instagram is one app that helped me the most because that's where I get the most engagements and followers.

What do you plan to do with their cash prize?

With the cash prize, I plan to rent in January to finish my practicals since I'm no longer a registered student.

What travel plans have you made?

My travel plan is to visit Cape Town, which is one province I'd like to explore more before I leave the country.

Did you enjoy the experience?

I had a great experience on the photo shoot; the team was friendly, and the crew was so calm and willing to help us understand what they wanted and how we could do it.

Do you have a message or advice for those wishing to enter this or any other talent competition?

For all those who have plans to enter this #IamOriginal88 competition, I'd advise them first to build their foundation, tell their friends and everyone around them about the competition and how they are going to need their help before the competition even starts because people tend to think it's a scam when you just come up sending them a link to vote. It's understandable because that's what most scammers use to hack people.

What are your plans for 2024?

In 2024, I plan to work with more retail stores and brands because I'm not moving backwards from here; I'm looking forward to more opportunities like this one.
